Litigation Paralegal

PYA is seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Litigation Paralegal to join PYA’s Legal Department and Litigation Support Team. The ideal candidate will be able to effectively communicate, prioritize, manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment, and work collaboratively with PYA’s legal and business colleagues.    

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Develop strong and trusted relationships with PYA clients and colleagues through professional and effective communication, ensuring client service excellence, business continuity, and confidentiality
• Assist with drafting, reviewing, and administering various types of contracts PYA regularly enters into in the course and scope of business
• Organize and maintain case files, including indexing and summarizing
• Conduct legal research, analyze legal issues, and provide concise summaries of legal points  
• Provide administrative support to the team including calendar management and scheduling and coordination of client meetings in person, via telephone, and video  

POSITION TYPE

• In–office, Monday through Friday
• Overtime required at peak times, and as needed

REQUIREMENTS

• Minimum of 3 years civil litigation experience (commercial and business litigation experience preferred) 
• Paralegal certification from an accredited program is preferred
• Experience with organizing and summarizing case files, discovery, pleadings, and other documentation
• Strong contract management skills preferred, including experience preparing and reviewing engagement letters/non-disclosure agreements/contract shells and tracking contract expirations and renewals
• Deposition and trial preparation experience, including preparing exhibits and trial notebooks 
• Strong understanding of legal terminology, procedures, and research
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, etc.) and legal research tools required
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team under pressure in a fast-paced environment with tight deadlines
• Excellent organizational and multitasking abilities with a high level of attention to detail
• Polished professionalism including a positive attitude combined with excellent oral/written communication skills
