    Primary Purpose:

     

    To maintain a key issuance and locking system that will maintain accountability and control essential for effective security and facility operations.
     

     

    Qualification:

     

          Education/Certification:

     
    • High school diploma or equivalent preferred
    • Must have a valid Texas Driver's License and meet/maintain insurance requirements of Pasadena ISD
    • Must pass drug test and be part of a random drug testing program
    • Must pass criminal history check
     

          Special Knowledge/Skills: 

     
    • Knowledge and developed skills in all phases of locksmith installation and repair
    • Ability to read blueprints and interpret diagrams
    • Skilled in the maintenance and use of the tools, equipment and materials of the trade
    • At least ten years of experience as a locksmith is preferred.
     

     

     

    Major Responsibilities and Duties:

     
    1. Monitor and maintain the District's Key Control Policy, maintain and key filing system for keys, cut keys, stamp number on keys
    2. Be able to resolve complex keying issues that may be necessary to satisfy the security needs of the district
    3. Responsible for installation and maintenance of all PISD locking systems
    4. Install new locks, repair, open and remove locks, and clear keyways of obstructions
    5. Programs, reprogram, installs, and maintains coded keyless systems, both mechanical and electronic
    6. Cut new, replacement or duplicate keys; re-key locks as necessary
    7. Monitors work performed by outside contractors, generate key schedules, review blueprints and key charts, reports to superviso on issues iwth District Standard
    8. Maintains lock shop in a clean and safe condition at all times
    9. Must be able to perform necessary paperwork to process work orders
    10. Must have a working knowledge of computer systems in regards to email, time entry and work orders
    11. Participates in the preparation of cost estimates, material orders and records maintenance
    12. Knowledge in best key system and core control
    13. Install multiple styles and types of hardware from cylindrical locks, mortise locks, exit devices, closers, etc
    14. Basic function of electronic access, latch releases, low voltage
    15. Knowledge in types of door systems such as storefronts, hollow metal, full glass, and laminate
    16. Knowledge in switch locks needed for elevators, roll gates, basketball goals, etc
    17. Basic knowledge on safes, lockers, combination changing/replacing
    18. Pick/drioll out locks or make keys to match lock if lost
    19. Knowledge in fire codes, building codes for educational facilities
    20. Possess good PR abilities
    21. Must have a working knowledge of computer systems in regard to email, work order, and time entry systems
    22. Assist other crafts as needed
    23. Must be willing to respond to occasional after-hour emergencies
    24. Perform other duties as assigned

    Exposure to dust, toxic chemicals, and materials.
    May work on slippery and uneven surfaces.
