Master Plumber / Civil Construction Estimator

Schedule: Flexible. Open to discussion of Part-Time work

Work Location: Some time on project site, some time in office

Reports to: Director of Operations

Payrate: $40-50/hour

Expectations:

• Works together with the project team to create a mutual understanding of the project strategy based on the requirements of the job

• Effectively communicate company vison, values, and goals

• Basic understanding of lump sum bidding, unit price bidding, and T&M bidding

• Work in a knowledgeable and professional manor with clients to understand their project needs

• Completes estimate take-offs in a timely, accurate, and detailed manner.

• Pull plumbing permits per jurisdiction as projects require.

• Consulting in the field with the Superintendent.

Essential Functions:

• Frequently sit, use hands, and talk/hear

• Continuously read from a computer screen

• Work in a quiet office setting

• Ability to see color

• Frequently lift, bend, stoop, climb, and jump

• Continuous driving automotive equipment

• Being near machinery

• Changes in temperature

• Working regularly around dirt and dust

• Walk long distances and stand long periods of time

• Written and verbal communication skills

• Reasoning, math, and language

• Make independent judgements

• Occasional travel

Duties:

• Understand work scopes, requests for proposal, and related documentation

• Assists Estimator 2 in identifying and qualifying projects to be estimated through multiple resources, including plan room, existing clients, and business development team

• Attend pre-bid meetings and effectively communicate the project expectations

• Compile all documentation and quotes from sub-contractors and suppliers

• Complete project bid sheets and proposal letters

• Review all project estimate break downs with Estimator 1

• Attend bid openings

• Collect and organize all bid history data, including bid tabulations, and supplier rate sheets for easy reference

• Organize and attend post project review meetings, collect project notes for future reference

• Some travel required

• Track new project and pending project information

• Code compliance, quality controls, and troubleshooting complex issues

Minimum Qualifications:

• Master Plumber’s Licensed with City of Omaha

  • Experience on Civil Construction sites.

• Some estimating experience with relevant references

• Excellent communication skills

• Proficient ability to use Microsoft Office and Excel

• Reading and understanding plans and specifications

• Ability to read and understand soil reports and testing requirements preferred.

• Attention to detail and organized

• Work with upper management to provide detailed scope of work

• Attend all safety training and management meetings

• Ability to see color
