Position: Mechanic

Reports To: Asset Manager

Summary: Repairs and overhauls company vehicles and heavy equipment and other automotive oil field related equipment as needed.

Essential Qualifications, Duties, and Responsibilities: (Other duties may be assigned)

  • Examines vehicle and equipment for extent of damage and/or malfunction
  • Plans work procedure prior to task by using charts, technical manuals and experience
  • Raises equipment with hydraulic jack or hoist, to gain access to lower parts as well as keeping proper ergonomics while performing task.
  • Lubricates moving parts and drives or test vehicles and equipment to verify conformance to specifications. In the event that a mechanic does not have the proper certification to run such equipment, a certified operator must be present to test said equipment.
  • Changes oil and other fluids that are needed for safe operation. Checks battery life and conditions, repairs tires and tubes, as well as maintain and repair tracks on heavy equipment.
  • Disassembles equipment and inspects parts for wear and replaces as needed
  • Overhauls or replaces carburetors, blowers, generators, distributors, starters, and pumps.
  • Rewires ignition system, lights, instrument panel and other wiring harnesses and features for safe operation.
  • Fabrication or repair of metal components such as exhaust systems, chassis repair and structural repair.
  • Inspect and maintain any safety feature that is needed on equipment.

Physical Demands: The employee must regularly lift up to 50 pounds and carry up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include Close vision, Distance vision, Peripheral vision, Depth perception and Ability to adjust focus. While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms and talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to stand; walk; climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.

Mechanic must be willing to comply with PCM Health, Safety, and Environmental rules and regulations. They must also comply with all governmental regulations.
