    JOB TITLE:     Mobile Maintenance Apprentice

     

    DUTY DAYS:  240 Days

     

    PAY GRADE:  N04

     

    STARTING SALARY:  $114.88/day

     

     

     

    Primary Purpose: 

     

     

     

    To maintain building and structures in a manner consistent with PISD standards as to appearance and function.

     

            

     

    Qualifications:

     

     Education/Certification:

     
    • High School diploma or equivalent preferred
    • Must have a valid Texas driver’s license and meet and maintain insurance requirements of PISD
    • Must pass initial drug test and be part of a random drug testin program
    • Must pass annual physical and drug test
     

    Special Knowledge/Skills

     
    • General knowledge of tools used in designated craft
    • No experience required
     

     

     

    MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:

     
    1. Assist in minor and major repairs to all facilities.
    2. Assist in constructing and installing cabinets and shelves.
    3. Assist in repairing/replacing doors and door closures.
    4. Willing to learn preventive maintenance on all installed equipment.
    5. Willing to learn to perform minor plumbing repairs, such as leaking faucets, plugged commodes, etc.
    6. Willing to learn to perform minor electrical repairs, such as replacing ballasts, switches, fixtures, receptacles.
    7. Willing to learn to perform minor painting, touch up and repainting.
    8. Must have a working knowledge computer systems in regards to email, work order and time entry systems.
    9. Assist other crafts as needed.
    10. Must be willing to respond to occasional after hour emergencies
    11. Perform other duties as assigned.

    Ability to communicate effectively (verbal); maintain emotional control under stress; interpret policy, procedures, and data; coordinate district functions

     

     

     

    Physical Demands/Environmental Factors:

     

    Strenuous walking, standing, climbing, and heavy lifting, must have use of all faculties. Must be able to work from ladders and elevated platforms. Work outside. Exposure to hot and cold temperatures. Exposure to dust, toxic   chemicals, and materials. May work on slippery and uneven surfaces.
