GENERAL JOB DESCRIPTION

The Permit Administrator manages the permitting and utility process and the subsequent development tracking for new commercial projects, expansions, and remodels.

                                                                         DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • File all permit applications with the city and county for upcoming construction projects.
  • Serve as the point person for the Architectural team in the preparation and submission of documents for plan review and follow up. 
  • Conduct preliminary research for upcoming sites to ensure Architects are prepared to begin project development.  Support coordination of initial site visits.
  • Understand permitting procedures for different markets.
  • Identify, select, and work closely with permit expeditors in markets to ensure permits remain on track and are timely for upcoming projects.
  • Track permitting comments and ensure that Parkway Architects are responding in a timely manner.
  • Effectively manage the permitting process to ultimately reduce overall development time.
  • Create and update the development report each week.
  • Proactively verify that Parkway has requisite licenses in cities and states for upcoming projects.
  • Support construction Project Managers to ensure they have the correct and necessary information required to secure end of project inspections and certificates for openings.
  • Initiate, contact, and set up relationships with utility companies for upcoming projects.  Proactively communicate this information to necessary parties.
  • Procure NOW checks with the Accounting department when needed for last minute permit or utility requirements.

Qualifications

EDUCATION & TRAINING

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.

KNOWLEDGE & EXPERIENCE

  • Experienced in all aspects of the Development process with an emphasis on permitting, architecture and construction.
  • Strong computer skills including Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Experience in the Construction industry is ideal.
  • Data entry keyboarding skills with a high degree of accuracy.

  • Possess excellent communication skills (both oral & written) with co-workers, management, clients, and others in a courteous, calm, and professional manner.
  • Able to quickly learn new technologies, programs, and databases.
  • Possess excellent analytical and reasoning skills; ability to think ahead/troubleshoot. Remove obstacles before they become problems.
  • Requires strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently, prioritize effectively to meet deadlines, and demonstrate strong organizational skills.
  • Possess ability to be a self- starter; resourceful, dependable, and accountable.
  • Build and maintain favorable working relationships with clients and other team members, including all departments within company.
  • Ability to work with Integrity, Trust, and Respect; setting an example for others.
  • Thrives in a friendly, fast-paced, team-oriented environment, where accountability, work ethic and a “can do” attitude are necessities.
  • Regular use of the telephone and email for communication is essential.
