Position Summary

The IMS Preconstruction Manager is a pivotal leadership role within CEC’s Integrated Modular Solutions (IMS) department, responsible for overseeing the planning, coordination, and execution of key project activities. This position requires a proactive individual who will work collaboratively with internal support teams during the preconstruction phase to ensure the timely and cost-effective design, fabrication, and preparation of electrical systems and components for installation. They will engage with the Virtual Design and Construction (VDC) and electrical project teams to identify prefabrication (Prefab) opportunities and ensure that all customer requirements and project expectations are met. This is a safety sensitive position.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Planning & Coordination

    • Collaborate and coordinate with the preconstruction team from project initiation to the start of fabrication.

    • Work with engineering and VDC teams to review project specifications, requirements, and technical drawings to identify opportunities for prefabrication (Prefab).

    • Provide expert input on electrical systems, prefabrication methods, best practices, and lessons learned.

  • Scheduling & Resource Allocation

    • Create and maintain detailed project timelines and schedules related to preconstruction, VDC, and fabrication activities as they pertain to IMS.

    • Coordinate resource allocation (personnel, equipment, materials) to ensure efficiency.

    • Identify and resolve scheduling conflicts to ensure timely completion of milestones.

  • Team Leadership & Communication

    • Work with a cross-functional team of engineers, designers, estimators, and warehouse staff.

    • Foster open communication between preconstruction, engineering, procurement, and production teams.

    • Provide regular updates to upper management and clients on project status, risks, and progress.

    • Address issues or challenges that arise during the preconstruction phase.

  • Safety

    • Maintain health, safety, hygiene, and security standards set by CEC.

    • Monitor IMS associates’ work, ensuring the safe use of warehouse equipment and tools.

    • Set IMS team goals in collaboration with company initiatives and other department leads and managers.

  • Continuous Improvement

    • Identify opportunities for process improvement and efficiency within the IMS warehouse, department, and CEC organization.

    • Ensure adherence to the 5S standard for all CEC work cells.

    • Implement and drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance overall operational effectiveness.

    • Encourage team members to adopt a continuous improvement mindset.

  • Technology Proficiency

    • Possess strong knowledge of MS Suite and other construction management software.

    • Leverage technology tools for accurate record-keeping, reporting, and data analysis.

    • Demonstrate a willingness to learn and adapt to new technologies.

  • Travel Requirements

    • Travel up to 25% of the time to various locations across the U.S. to provide on-site support, training, and oversight.

  • Perform other related duties as assigned to ensure efficient and effective processes, completion of projects and smooth operation of department

Qualifications

Required Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities

  • Track record of developing strong business relations, effective teams, and working effectively across all levels of the organization.

  • Working knowledge of inventory control practices; tools, supplies and equipment used in the construction industry.

  • Results-oriented mindset.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Familiarity with safety regulations and compliance standards.

  • Must work successfully under general supervision and possess great time management skills.

  • Proficiency in MS Excel and working knowledge in other construction management software.

Education and Experience

  • 3+ years of relevant experience.

  • Proven experience in the electrical construction industry, project management, and preconstruction.

  • Electrical construction experience or a Bachelor's degree in a related field is preferred.
