Position Summary

A Project Controls Coordinator will take electrical blueprints and break them down into a work breakdown structure (WBS) of individual tasks and activities. The emphasis will be to identify areas in the design that can be pre-built using the in-house Integrated Modular Solutions and then sent to the job site. This is a safety sensitive position.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Responsible for assisting estimating in putting together bid packages and job costs.
  • Work together with estimating and operations to jointly prepare a working estimate.
  • Lays out work tasks in a WBS as outlined in the drawings.
  • Aides in establishing work schedules and man-loading charts.
  • Work with IMS department to identify areas that can be prefabricated.  
  • Coordinates prefabrication with IMS, Operations and VDC/BIM team.
  • Develops cost comparison of prefabricated assembly’s vs field work.
  • Monitors OpenSpace and other daily/weekly scheduled program applications for specific projects.
  • Build and monitor Earned Values tracking sheets for projects.
  • Tracks WBS performance man hours and delivers reports based off of tracking sheets.
  • Participates in job hand-off meetings.
  • Able to understand and extract data from Accubid.
  • May have to assist BIM with layout drawings.
  • Interpret specifications and NEC electrical code.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned to ensure efficient and effective processes, completion of projects and smooth operation of department.

Qualifications

Required Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities

  • Comprehend reading and drawing prints, specifications, and schematics.
  • Ability to estimate electrical work packages and jobs.
  • Ability to construct and design pre-built electrical skids, panels, conduit.
  • Well organized.
  • Able to work hand in hand with estimating and project managers.
  • Knowledge with using prefabricated assemblies in the field.
  • Experienced in interpreting specifications and NEC electrical code.

Education and Experience

  • Current Driver’s License and must have reliable transportation.
  • High School Graduate, GED or equivalent.
  • 6 years or more of commercial/industrial electrical experience.
  • Journeyman Electrician License.
  • Experience in electrical work estimating.

This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, and filing cabinets.

  • Must be able to traverse and inspect all areas of jobsite in all types of weather; this may include walking, climbing reaching, bending crawling, standing, or stretching.
  • The employee must be able to regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds, lift and /or move up to 50 pounds
  • Move about on the feet regularly. Sit for extended periods of time.
  • Requires the ability to sit and work at a computer for extended periods of time.
  • May require travel.
  • Exposure to characteristic construction site dangers.
  • Talk and hear, ability to communicate with others both written and orally and by telephone.
  • Possess good vision, normal or corrected. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision to discern color coded wires, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus. 
  • Possesses good hearing, normal or corrected.
  • Must be able to wear personal protective equipment (hard hat, safety glasses, safety vest), as needed. 
  • Must be able to work 8 hours a day, 40 hours per week, and overtime as required and night shifts, as needed. Must be on-call to address delays, emergencies, bad weather, and other issues at the jobsite.
  • This position requires travel by vehicle, the ability to work and walk at construction sites during all stages, in all types of weather conditions. 
  • Must be able to work in the presence of customers and their representatives with little or no interference or disruption to the customer while maintaining a professional and courteous image.
