The Quality Assurance Manager (Constructability Review Program) can be based out of any Flintco office location and will oversee the development, execution, and improvement of Flintco’s internal constructability review program, and associated design review processes. This includes engaging internal business partners and Construction Support Services personnel in technical reviews of design deliverables and construction documentation. Furthermore, this includes day-to-day management of the tools/technologies applied as part of the constructability review process. This role has the potential to act in a supervisory capacity for those in the Quality Engineer position.

  • Develops, executes, and enhances all aspects of Flintco’s Quality Program as it relates to design constructability, and practices deployed in that regard.
  • Develops and manages all processes, application criteria, and business rules associated with the performance of design constructability reviews across the project portfolio.
  •  Coordinates and performs in-house reviews of project-level plans and specifications at critical design junctures – identifying errors, omissions, inconsistencies, and ambiguities to reduce the number of downstream RFIs and change orders.
  • Presents design review findings in a transparent setting to Flintco Preconstruction and Operations teams, tracking potential constructability issues to completion.
  • Provides awareness, guidance, and training on general trends/issues found as part of design review process to prevent re-occurrence across company locations.
  • Manages business partner expectations related to Flintco’s constructability review process and its deliverables.
  • Performs other duties, as assigned.
  • Knowledge/Skills/Ability
  • Applied knowledge of architectural/engineering design review processes used to assess project biddability, buildability, operability, maintainability, and sustainability – spanning various building markets/types and scopes/disciplines.
  • Applied knowledge of the design process and deliverables at each milestone (Conceptual, SD, DD, CD, Etc.) to evaluate budget and project risks associated with the design evolution.
  • Experience identifying, documenting, and prioritizing project-level risks and implementing associated risk mitigation/handling strategies.
  • Experience identifying low-cost, high-quality alternatives to design configurations and materials noted in project drawings, specifications, and design documentation.
  • Experience ensuring compliance with the following governance authorities, technical affiliations, and codes/standards: IBC, ANSI, ACI, AISC, PCI, IEEE, NEC, ASME, ASHRAE, NSPC, IECC, LEED, and/or ISO-9001. Working knowledge of design/construction documentation, modeling, and work management systems, including Procore, Bluebeam Revu, AutoCAD, Revit, and Navisworks.
  • Ability and expectation to spend 80% of time directly supporting Flintco Operations projects, and 20% developing/maintaining Flintco Quality program, personnel, and development initiatives.
  • Able to work independently, gathering and defining work plans and applying appropriate problem-solving methods when necessary.
  • Able to partner effectively with internal and external peers, management teams, and customers when planning and executing scopes of work.
  • Able to communicate effectively with peers, supervisors, and managers on issues, trends, and assignments.
  • Follows and enforces Flintco Safety Rules and Practices, stopping work, if necessary, to resolve matters that affect safety, quality, and/or inhibit the logical progress of work.
    Education
    B.S. Degree in Engineering, Architecture, Construction Management, or related field; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

    Experience
    7+ years of supervisory experience in architectural engineering and/or construction management, supporting front-end planning construction field execution.
