Job Title: Senior Accountant (Sage 100 & Job Costing)
Job Type: Full‑Time | Exempt
Job Salary: $90,000
Job Schedule: M-F, 40 hrs/week
Job Location: Houston, TX 77042

Position Summary

The Senior Accountant is a hands‑on accounting professional responsible for monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reporting, job costing, and maintaining general ledger accuracy. This role requires strong Sage 100 experience and the ability to partner with operations to ensure accurate project/job profitability reporting. 


Key Responsibilities

Financial Reporting & Close

  • Prepare and support monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements (P&L, balance sheet, cash flow).
  • Perform month‑end close activities, including journal entries, accruals, and account reconciliations.
  • Assist with year‑end close, audits, and tax support schedules.

Job Costing & Operational Accounting

  • Manage and maintain job/project costing in Sage 100, including labor, materials, overhead, and margin analysis.
  • Prepare job cost and profitability reports for leadership and operations teams.
  • Monitor cost variances and support corrective actions with operational leaders.

General Accounting

  • Maintain general ledger integrity and account reconciliations.
  • Support A/P, A/R, payroll coordination, and fixed asset accounting.
  • Ensure accurate revenue recognition and expense classification in accordance with GAAP.

Systems & Process Support

  • Serve as a key user for Sage 100, including reporting, troubleshooting, and data integrity.
  • Identify process improvements to improve close timelines, accuracy, and reporting quality.
  • Support internal controls and documentation.

Requirements

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance
  • 4–7 years of accounting experience
  • Hands‑on Sage 100 experience (required)
  • Demonstrated experience with job costing / project accounting
  • Strong Excel skills (reconciliations, analysis, schedules)
  • Working knowledge of GAAP

Preferred Qualifications

  • Public or telecom industry accounting background
  • Experience in project‑based environments (construction, manufacturing, IT, staffing, healthcare, facilities, etc.)
  • CPA or CPA‑track (preferred but not required)
