FULL SALARY RANGE:   $2,113.78 - $3,065.15 Biweekly

The Position:
Under general supervision, ensures compliance with plans and specifications for development construction projects. This is accomplished by training and supervising staff, coordinating and performing inspections of City and private development projects, conducting project closeouts, and maintaining compliance with regulations. Additional responsibilities include providing administrative support, generating reports, and engaging with contractors, citizens, and City employees.
This position provides direction to other employees and ensures all construction projects meet City standards and regulations.

**There is one position that can be filled as either a Construction Inspector or Senior Construction Inspector**

Essential Functions

The following duties are not intended to serve as a comprehensive list of all responsibilities. Incumbent(s) may be required to perform additional position-specific duties.

  • Staff Supervision:
    • Train, evaluate, and oversee work assignments of staff.
    • Provide performance feedback and distribute work assignments.
  • Final Project Inspections:
    • Perform final walkthroughs and inspections of construction projects.
    • Develop and verify punch list completion and process final closeout documentation.
  • Stormwater Compliance:
    • Conduct inspections for compliance with TPDES and TCEQ regulations.
    • Review and document erosion control measures and re-inspect as needed.
  • Utility & Pavement Inspections:
    • Ensure underground utility installations and pavement projects meet City standards.
    • Test materials, observe construction, issue stop work orders, and document findings.
  • Construction Plan Reviews:
    • Review plans for compliance with City ordinances.
    • Address errors with contractors and provide guidance on City policies and standards.
  • Administrative Support:
    • File reports, generate correspondence, and prepare documentation for City Hall.
  • Pre-Construction Meetings:
    • Prepare for and lead meetings with City staff, contractors, and stakeholders for private development projects.

Job Requirements

Education & Experience

  • High School diploma or equivalent plus four (4) years of relevant work experience
Certifications
  • One of the following AWPS Certifications: CPII, CPWP-S, or CPWP-M OR two years of management/supervisor experience
Special Requirements
  • Must possess a valid Texas Class C Driver’s License.
Physical Demands / Work Environment
  • Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions.
  • Comfortable working with hazardous materials and in high-traffic areas.
  • Physical strength to lift, push, pull, and carry up to 50-100 lbs occasionally.
