Title: SMC Project Manager/Estimator
Reports to: SMC General Manager
Status: Full-time/Exempt
Date: May 2026
Job Summary
The Estimator / Project Manager will oversee insurance restoration projects from initial assessment through final completion, starting at the construction phase. This role combines accurate estimating with hands-on project management to ensure repair projects are delivered on time, within budget, and in compliance with insurance requirements and industry standards.
Key Responsibilities
Estimating & Documentation
Inspect residential and commercial properties for accurate repair estimates due to fire, water, mold, etc.)
• Prepare detailed repair estimates using Xactimate
• Review insurance scopes, policies, and adjuster reports
• Negotiate scopes and pricing with insurance adjusters
• Maintain accurate job files, photos, and documentation
Project Management
• Manage construction projects from start to finish
• Develop project timelines, budgets, and schedules
• Coordinate subcontractors, vendors, and internal crews
• Ensure materials are ordered and delivered on time
• Monitor job progress and maintain quality control
• Conduct site visits and communicate updates to clients and stakeholders
Client & Stakeholder Communication
• Serve as primary point of contact for homeowners, adjusters, and insurance carriers
• Provide clear expectations and regular project updates
• Resolve issues, change orders, and customer concerns professionally
Compliance & Safety
• Ensure all work meets local building codes and regulations
• Follow OSHA and company safety standards
• Maintain proper permits and inspections
Qualifications
• 2+ years of experience in restoration, construction estimating, or project management
• Proficiency in Xactimate
• Strong understanding of insurance claims process
• Excellent communication and negotiation skills
• Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
• Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation
Preferred Skills
• Experience with fire, water, and storm damage restoration
• Knowledge of building materials, methods, and costs
• Strong organizational and problem-solving abilities
• Proficient in industry standard restoration and office software
