Job Description

Senior Superintendent – Commercial Electrical Construction Location: DFW & Houston, TX Job Summary A leading commercial electrical contractor is seeking an experienced Senior Superintendent to oversee large-scale, ground-up commercial electrical construction projects. This role serves as the primary on-site operational leader, responsible for directing field teams, coordinating subcontractors, enforcing safety and quality standards, and ensuring projects are delivered on time, on budget, and to the highest quality standards. The ideal candidate brings 10+ years of electrical construction field leadership experience, exceptional organizational skills, and a proven ability to manage complex, multi-crew commercial job sites.

Key Responsibilities Site Leadership & Execution

  • Serve as the senior on-site authority for commercial electrical construction projects.
  • Provide leadership, supervision, and mentorship to superintendents, foremen, and field crews.
  • Coordinate work sequencing across multiple trades, subcontractors, and vendors.
  • Ensure installation aligns with project plans, specifications, schedules, and quality standards. Safety & Compliance
  • Lead and enforce the site safety program, OSHA compliance, and client-specific safety requirements.
  • Conduct safety audits, incident investigations, and corrective action planning.
  • Coordinate OSHA inspections, regulatory reviews, and compliance reporting.
  • Promote a culture of safety excellence across all field personnel. Project Planning & Scheduling
  • Partner with Project Managers to develop construction schedules, manpower plans, and material forecasts.
  • Monitor daily productivity, identify risks, and implement corrective actions.
  • Ensure materials, equipment, and subcontractor resources are available to support project timelines.
  • Maintain accurate look-ahead schedules, forecasts, and progress tracking. Field Operations & Quality Control
  • Oversee daily construction activities and resolve field challenges, including: o Productivity constraints o Material delays o Design conflicts o Work interface issues
  • Maintain strong working relationships with inspectors, engineers, architects, subcontractors, and clients.
  • Conduct inspections and walkthroughs to ensure workmanship, code compliance, and quality standards.
  • Ensure proper documentation of as-built drawings, RFIs, change orders, and field modifications. Cost Control & Reporting
  • Support project cost controls, including: o Labor tracking o Productivity monitoring o Change order execution
  • Assist with monthly cost reporting, percent-complete forecasting, and progress billing support.
  • Maintain documentation related to extra work, back charges, and subcontractor performance.

Required Qualifications

  • 10+ years of experience as a Senior Superintendent / Electrical Superintendent on commercial construction projects.
  • Extensive experience leading large-scale commercial electrical projects, including: o Power distribution o Lighting systems o Switchgear o Mission-critical systems
  • Strong working knowledge of NEC codes, safety regulations, and commercial construction best practices.
  • Proven ability to manage large field teams and subcontractors.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, and schedules.

Preferred Experience

  • Data centers, healthcare, industrial facilities, water/wastewater treatment plants, power plants, or other mission-critical environments.
  • Experience with large, complex ground-up commercial builds.

Education & Technical Skills

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required
  • Construction Management or technical training preferred
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and construction management software

Work Environment & Physical Requirements

  • Active jobsite environment with daily exposure to construction conditions.
  • Ability to: o Stand, walk, climb, and navigate active construction sites. o Lift and manipulate materials up to 50 lbs. o Climb ladders and stairs and work at varying heights. o Read blueprints and interpret technical drawings.
