Role Overview

This is a full-time, onsite role located at the Fort Wayne corporate office. The Staff Accountant will work closely with the internal accounting team, supporting its daily functions and responsibilities. The ideal candidate brings 1–3 years of accounting experience, working knowledge of job costing and general ledger accounting, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced construction environment.

Core Responsibilities

• Process accounts payable invoices, including vendor invoice coding, approval routing, and payment processing in Sage 300 CRE

• Maintain accurate vendor records, reconcile vendor statements, and resolve payment discrepancies

• Process expense reports and employee reimbursements in accordance with company policy

• Support implementation and maintenance of internal controls and accounting procedures

• Respond to vendor, subcontractor, and internal team inquiries regarding payment status and account reconciliation

• Review, file, and request certificates of insurance from subcontractors and vendors to ensure compliance with contract requirements

• Assist with month-end close processes, including journal entries and account reconciliations.

• Reconcile project budgets against the accounting system and flag variances for the project team

• Assist with annual audit preparation and 1099 processing

• Support the project team in meeting customer expectations

• Other duties as assigned

Qualifications & Skills

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance required

• 1–3 years of accounting experience preferred; recent graduates with strong internship experience are encouraged to apply

• Solid understanding of foundational accounting principles and working knowledge of job costing and general ledger accounting, including overhead expense coding

• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel (pivot tables, XLOOKUPs); experience with Sage 300 CRE or similar construction accounting software is a strong plus

• Strong problem-solving and analytical skills with high attention to detail

• Well-organized with the ability to manage competing priorities and meet deadlines

• Strong verbal and written communication skills

• Positive, team-oriented attitude with a self-starter mentality and limited need for supervision

• Demonstrated track record of reliability and results-oriented performance
