Summary:
Working under the direct supervision of the Transmission Construction Services Manager, the Construction Services Coordinator is responsible for reviewing the planning stories and the associated projects; recommending construction schedules, developing and revising preliminary sequence drawings, confirming construction scopes, and communicating as needed on overall project status with multiple parties. The assigned projects are in the early stages of planning and are one to two years before construction starts in most instances.
The Construction Services Coordinator is expected to work from the office/remotely as well as in the field, as required, to fulfill the duties and responsibilities of the role. The environment and working conditions can be physically and mentally demanding. This position requires frequent on-site visits regardless of weather conditions. Project reviews may occur when no other stakeholders are assigned and will occur prior to or during the design phase of the project. This position can be challenging due to the number of projects assigned and the changing project constructability options, which require a “re-shuffling” of construction options and re-sequencing.
Key Roles & Responsibilities
- Under the direct supervision of the Transmission Construction Services Manager, the Construction Services Coordinator will review projects that Transmission Planning, Scoping, Transmission Program Management Office (TPMO), and Engineering have planned and proposed.
- Supporting the development of constructability options and design criteria, while considering construction schedules and construction sequence documents to minimize facility outages and to minimize risks to the electric system.
- Determine potential Right of Way (ROW) issues with a proposed project and analyze where additional permanent easements, Temporary Construction Easement (TCE) may be needed.
- Coordinating various meetings such as pre-engineering, pre-bid, site evaluations, customer-related consultations, etc.
- Communicate project status effectively and maintain relationships with internal and external stakeholders to evaluate and resolve construction coordination options.
- Requesting line and equipment outages from Transmission Grid Management (TGM).
- Providing recommendations to the Transmission Construction Manager (TCM) and the Transmission Construction Services Manager (TCS) to improve processes, practices, and procedures to accomplish goals more efficiently and cost-effectively.
- Learning and applying the Oncor Transmission and Contractor Safety Handbook requirements.
- Determining the Transmission line and substation construction in-service dates and sequencing projects according to the material delivery dates, ROW acquisition, and additional factors.
- Ability to learn the computer skills required to use normal office programs and other company programs.
Education
- High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent is required.
- Applicants with a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology, Construction Engineering, Construction Management, or Project Management are encouraged to apply.
Experience
- Understands and is familiar with the design, operation, and/or construction of Transmission electric system facilities and has a basic knowledge of Transmission line and substation construction activities and materials.
Specific to Transmission Coordinator Associate
- 0 – 2 years of relevant experience in construction management.
- Applicants with prior design, construction management, and operation of electric grid experience are encouraged apply.
Specific to Transmission Coordinator
- Minimum two (2) years’ experience in Transmission Operations, Construction, or Engineering is required.
Specific to Transmission Coordinator Sr.
- Minimum four (4) years’ experience in Transmission Operations, Construction, or Engineering is required.
Specific to Project Planning Coordinator
- Minimum of five (5) years' experience in Transmission Operations, Construction or Engineering is required. We will accept applicants with 1+ years of experience in a Construction Coordinator role and have demonstrated a high-level performance in lieu of the years of experience mentioned above
