Gulf Coast Trades Center (GCTC) is a private, non-profit educational institution dedicated to improving the economic independence and social well-being of disadvantaged and adjudicated youth.  GCTC provides male youth ages 15-18 with a comprehensive program of education, counseling, job referrals, residential and community services.  This matrix of services is provided by our dedicated staff in a “no fail” atmosphere, which emphasized the worth of each individual. 

Salary:  $70,000 Annually

What you'll do:

The Construction Manager works as a staff member of the Walker Montgomery C.D.C. Youth Build program. Primarily responsible for supervising all phases of the construction project, making accurate cost projections, inspecting work to ensure conformance to specifications and teaching construction safety to trainees and participants. The Construction Manager reports to the Walker Montgomery C.D.C. Director.

 To be considered, you should:

  1. Have a high school diploma or equivalent.
  2. Have 5 years of verifiable hands-on experience in construction and general carpentry.
  3. Be empathetic, patient, and treat others with respect Exhibit the knowledge required to accurately read and interpret blue prints.
  4. Must comply with training and certification requirements of licensing and regulatory agencies.
  5. Must exhibit the safe and proper use of hand and power tools and supervise the sue of same by participants/trainees assigned to the Youth Build program.
  6. Exhibit the knowledge required to accurately read and interpret blue prints.
  7. Must exhibit the characteristics necessary to lead trainee crews and supervisor work projects from start up to completion. 
  8. Be at least 21 years of age.
  9. Have a desire to work with troubled teens.
  10. Be able to pass a criminal background check, drug screen and physical and TB test.
