Description

Job Title: Longline Operator

Department: Base Operations & Maintenance

Job Summary:

Operates and manages a pavement marking truck used in the installation of thermoplastic longlines in conformance with quantity and quality and safety standards and traffic engineering specifications. This position will abide by traffic laws and ensure safety. Truck drivers will be tasked with maintaining assigned trucks and providing reports of needed repairs or maintenance. Drivers will work closely with the dispatcher to plan routes and truck deliveries.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

  • None

Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Perform pre and post-transport inspections of trucks for safety and mechanical issues
  • Reports any maintenance and repair needs
  • Perform minor maintenance and repair
  • Perform or coordinate load and unloading of all cargo
  • Secure and inspect that all shipment is secure
  • All cargo loads are within the weight limit of the truck for transportation safely
  • Maintain truck and components
  • Plan routes and ensure delivery schedules are on time
  • Follow load routes and verify delivery instructions
  • Document and log work/rest periods, Miles drove and retained fuel/toll receipts as applicable
  • Comply with truck driving rules and regulations (size, weight, route designations, parking, and break periods) as well as with company policies and procedures
  • Maneuver trucks into loading or unloading positions
  • Report defects, accidents, violations, or unsafe conditions

Required Skills/Abilities:

  • Proficient written and oral communication skills according to skill requirements
  • Possess strong computer skills, able to read, write, and comprehend written instructional documents
  • Ability to function well in a high-paced and at times stressful environment
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide into all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals
  • Proficient Microsoft Office productivity suite

Education and Experience:

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • At least two years of related experience required

Physical Requirements:

  • Prolonged period of standing, bending, reaching, and working with hands
  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer
  • Occasional periods of prolonged exposure to loud noises
  • Ability to lift up to 75 pounds at times
  • Ability to stand, walk, and reach with arms and hands as necessary
  • Ability to hear and see to position and safety requirement levels
  • Occasional exposure to elements such as heat, cold, noise, dust, dirt, and chemicals

Special Qualifications/Requirements:

  • Must be able to successfully pass as required a federal, state, or local government's background investigation
  • Valid Drivers Licence & Class A CDL
  • Must have a clean driving record
