Description

To support and lead pipeline/facilities construction for Tallgrass Capital Projects. This position reports to the Director of Construction Capital Projects and supports the Project Teams during project activities from FEED to commissioning. 



Responsibilities

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Assists with planning and implementing the construction for all Capital Facilities and Pipeline Projects.  Supports project strategy and ensures compliance with the construction management program.
  • Assists with planning overall direction and strategic initiatives relative to construction planning and execution for assigned Capital Projects.
  • Ability to manage multiple complex projects.
  • Promotes the commitment to provide a safe workplace that strives for an incident and injury-free environment where everyone goes home safe every day. Ensures construction safety program including Site-Specific Safety Planning is proactively communicated and consistently enforced on all projects.
  • Leads from the front and by example.  Consistently promotes Tallgrass Safety and Culture. 
  • Manages and directs project construction leads and ensures all projects are completed on time, within budget, and according to pre-established specifications.
  • Proven leadership skills.

  • Regularly updates project team as to construction progress and makes recommendations to improve process.
  • Mentor and assist contract construction managers and inspection staff to Tallgrass Construction standards, O&M’s, required documentation, and EHS procedures.
  • Identify shortcomings of inspection staff and train accordingly.
  • Schedule and manage inspection activities and personnel with input from management.
  • Manage conflict and expectations of personnel.
  • Create and implement Inspection Test Plans (ITP) and audit inspectors and construction managers to the ITP’s.
  • Create and implement project QA program including vendor surveillance.
  • Assist in preparing bid packages, including scope of work, budget forecasting, risk analysis, contractor needs, qualifications, etc.
  • Work with Project Managers and business development teams to develop execution plans and estimates for inspection.
  • Monitor and be accountable for project inspection forecast.
  • Provide technical assistance in monitoring inspection and repair activities, including construction, non-destructive examination, welding and coatings.
  • Frequent project work sites to evaluate progress, safety and quality.
  • Lead and manage NCR(Non-Conformance Reporting) process for assigned projects.
  • Perform other duties as required or assigned.


Qualifications

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

Requirements:

  • 20+ years of Construction Leadership experience managing multiple projects
  • Knowledge and experience in the operation of pipelines, measurement, pump stations, compression, and all related equipment.
  • Experience dealing with multi-discipline teams and contractors in various locations on complex projects with critical and aggressive schedules. 
  • Must have technical abilities in reading construction plans, Isometric drawings and P&ID’s. 
  • Familiarity with PHMSA requirements, NACE, ASME and API specifications, standards, and recommended practices. 
  • Experience with multiple disciplines such as civil, electrical, mechanical, structural, and welding.
  • Experience with NDE and knowledge of different processes

Certifications, Licenses & Registrations:

  • Must possess and maintain a valid driver's license and a driving record satisfactory to the company and its insurers.

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications including Word, Excel and PowerPoint, Teams, Outlook, and other software applications.
  • Proficient math skills (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, fractions, decimals). 
  • Understand and implement Tallgrass policies.
