Job Purpose
The Manager of Construction and Capital Projects leads the day-to-day execution of Oakmont’s capital construction and renovation projects and supports facilities operations across the network. Reporting to the Head of Facilities and Capital Project Delivery, this role is responsible for managing project plans, vendor coordination, site oversight, and documentation to ensure projects are delivered on time, on budget, and in alignment with Oakmont standards.
This position serves as the operational lead for capital project execution, partnering closely with architects, contractors, school leaders, and internal stakeholders. The role also supports broader facilities operations by contributing to planning, systems implementation, and cross-functional coordination.
The ideal candidate is a detail-oriented and solutions-driven project leader who thrives in dynamic, multi-site environments and can bring structure and clarity to complex construction initiatives.
Initial Focus & Success Measures (First 12–18 Months)
? Deliver planned new school facilities for fiscal year 2027, which start Fall 2026, according to agreed-upon budgets and schedules, up to six new facilities
? Deliver planned expansions and buildouts for fiscal year 2027, which begin beginning Fall 2026, according to agreed-upon budgets and schedules, up to three new buildouts
Key Responsibilities
Construction Project Management
? Manage day-to-day execution of new school construction, expansions, renovations, and buildouts under the strategic direction of the Head of Facilities and Capital Project Delivery.
? Develop and maintain detailed project plans, schedules, scopes, and budgets.
? Coordinate with design builders and architects, review documents and identify potential risks or inconsistencies.
? Analyze construction bids and prepare recommendations for leadership review.
? Conduct regular site visits to assess progress, quality, and safety compliance.
? Track percentage of completion and review payment applications for accuracy and alignment with contract terms.
? Maintain project documentation, including logs, schedules, and contractor records.
? Communicate project updates, risks, and budget status to the Head of Facilities and other stakeholders.
? Partner with Finance to support forecasting, invoice review, and financial tracking.
Operational Support
? Support building readiness planning and seasonal maintenance coordination.
? Partner with internal departments to ensure facilities’ needs are met during expansions or transitions.
? Contribute to long-term facilities and capital planning initiatives led by the Head of Facilities and Capital Project Delivery.
Qualifications & Experience
? 5+ years of experience in facilities management, construction management, school operations, or a related field.
? Demonstrated experience leading capital projects and supervising maintenance teams or contractors.
? Strong working knowledge of building systems and preventative maintenance.
? Experience using ticketing or work-order systems.
? Excellent communication, organization, and stakeholder management skills.
? Ability to manage multiple sites and travel regularly.
? Proficiency in using ticketing or work-order systems (e.g., ClickUp, Zendesk, FMX).

Working Conditions
This position operates in a hybrid environment that includes office work, school campuses, and active construction or renovation sites. This requires regular travel to school locations across the Oakmont network and occasional visits to construction sites during various phases of work.
The work environment may involve exposure to outdoor weather conditions, mechanical rooms, and active facilities or construction areas. Site visits may include uneven surfaces, noise, dust, and other conditions typical of operational school facilities or construction environments.
Work hours are generally aligned with standard business hours; however, flexibility is required to address urgent facility issues, project milestones, inspections, or emergency situations that may arise outside of normal hours.
