**THIS POSITION IS FOR OUR WACO, TX LOCATION**

Traffic Control Tech III positions required an applicant be at least 21 years old and possess a valid Texas driver's license. Unfortunately we do not currently have positions that do not require a driver's license.

**Pre-employment Drug Screen required**

A Traffic Control Technician III (TCT 3) in Texas plays a crucial role in ensuring the smooth and safe flow of traffic. TCT III service as a crew supervisor responsible to manage a team. TCT must have Traffic Control Supervisor (or equivalent) certification Here’s a breakdown of responsibilities and tasks:

1. Installation and Maintenance: Responsible for setting up and maintaining traffic control devices such as traffic signals, road signs, barriers, and pavement markings. This includes installing new equipment and repairing or replacing damaged items.

2. Traffic Management: During road construction, accidents, or other incidents, a TCT will implement temporary traffic control measures to manage and redirect traffic safely. This often involves setting up cones, barrels, and signs to guide drivers and ensure roadwork is conducted safely.

3. Inspection: Regular inspections of traffic control equipment to ensure everything is functioning properly. This includes checking signal timing, the visibility of signs, and the condition of road markings.

4. Coordination: A TCT works closely with other municipal departments, construction crews, and law enforcement to plan and execute traffic control strategies, especially during major roadwork or events that impact traffic flow.

5. Compliance: Ensuring that all traffic control measures comply with state and federal regulations, including the Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices (MUTCD), which provides guidelines for traffic control devices.

6. Emergency Response: In case of accidents or hazardous conditions, the TCT will respond quickly to set up appropriate traffic control measures to prevent further incidents and ensure safety.

7. Team Management: The TCT III will work with the Crew Chief and other managers to prepare schedules, perform personnel management documents, and set the example to other team members as a leader.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required:

  1. Ability to accept direction and feedback from Traffic Control Crew Chief and follow through appropriately
  2. Ability to adjust to changes in work tasks or environment
  3. Ability to read, understand and carry out written instructions and present questions when instructions are unclear
  4. Ability to read, understand and carry out verbal instructions and present questions when instructions are unclear
  5. Ability to maintain a positive attitude
  6. Mechanical aptitude, performing routine maintenance and repair on equipment
  7. Map reading skills with the ability to find locations, navigate to job sites and navigate back to warehouse
  8. Complete deliveries when needed
  9. Knowledge of various tools and equipment used in the field and ability to select the appropriate tool or equipment to perform task at hand
  10. Ability to operate in an organized and time efficient manner
  11. Ability to speak clearly and convey information to others in an effective manner
  12. Ability to take direction from Traffic Control Crew Chief or take initiative if exact direction has not been assigned
  13. Ability to work extended hours, days, and weekends when necessary
  14. Reading, writing and arithmetic skills

Duties and Responsibilities of a Traffic Control Tech I include:

  • Arrive at the shop/yard and be prepared to work at the beginning of the shift.
  • Follow work instructions to ensure consistent service and product quality
  • Recommend measures to improve efficiency, service quality, product quality and safety
  • Maintain all work areas, vehicles and work sites in a neat and orderly fashion
  • Load and unload materials and equipment on site
  • Notify Traffic Control Supervisor of any quality or safety related concerns
  • Demonstrate initiative by evaluating situations, making decisions based on facts an solid judgments
  • Act in a manner that represents the professional manner reflecting the company's values and principles
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Traffic Control Supervisor

Qualifications

REQUIRED: Traffic Control Technician Certification (ATSSA OR TEEX)  in the State of Texas or 1 year Experience as a Traffic Control Technician

PREFERRED: Current Traffic Control Supervisor Certification (ATSSA OR TEEX) in the State of Texas
