Traffic Control Tech III positions required an applicant be at least 21 years old and possess a valid Texas driver's license. Unfortunately we do not currently have positions that do not require a driver's license.

A Traffic Control Technician III (TCT 3) in Texas plays a crucial role in ensuring the smooth and safe flow of traffic. TCT III service as a crew supervisor responsible to manage a team. TCT must have Traffic Control Supervisor (or equivalent) certification Here’s a breakdown of responsibilities and tasks:
1. Installation and Maintenance: Responsible for setting up and maintaining traffic control devices such as traffic signals, road signs, barriers, and pavement markings. This includes installing new equipment and repairing or replacing damaged items.
2. Traffic Management: During road construction, accidents, or other incidents, a TCT will implement temporary traffic control measures to manage and redirect traffic safely. This often involves setting up cones, barrels, and signs to guide drivers and ensure roadwork is conducted safely.
3. Inspection: Regular inspections of traffic control equipment to ensure everything is functioning properly. This includes checking signal timing, the visibility of signs, and the condition of road markings.
4. Coordination: A TCT works closely with other municipal departments, construction crews, and law enforcement to plan and execute traffic control strategies, especially during major roadwork or events that impact traffic flow.
5. Compliance: Ensuring that all traffic control measures comply with state and federal regulations, including the Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices (MUTCD), which provides guidelines for traffic control devices.
6. Emergency Response: In case of accidents or hazardous conditions, the TCT will respond quickly to set up appropriate traffic control measures to prevent further incidents and ensure safety.
7. Team Management: The TCT III will work with the Crew Chief and other managers to prepare schedules, perform personnel management documents, and set the example to other team members as a leader.
