Job Description

This position will be based out of our Houston, TX office. 

  • Superintendent will lead Water/Wastewater and Pump Station construction projects in Texas.  
  • Superintendents provide onsite field management to ensure work is performed safely, effectively, and profitably.  
  • Project Budgets are in the $10’s of Millions to $1 Billion 
  • The Project Superintendent is generally assigned to a single project and manages the on-site safety, self-performed work, and all subcontractors and suppliers: Responsible for all aspects of jobsite safety, including employee safety, subcontractors, suppliers, and other individuals authorized to be on the jobsite. This requires an understanding of safety standards and requirements as well as specific subcontractor or supplier written safety plans, and all local, state, and federal safety regulations. Must have CMAR project delivery experience.  
  • Contribute to the project team planning all aspects of self-performed work. This will include earthwork, concrete, carpentry, metal work, mechanical, and electrical work.  
  • Coordinate, schedule, and manage all subcontractors and suppliers. 
  • The Superintendent is responsible for selecting construction practices and methods for accomplishing the work.  
  • Prepare weekly look ahead schedules, crew task lists, and labor tracking reports. 
  • Prepare daily reports. Responsible for receiving, inventory, and onsite management of material organization and tracking system.  
  • Responsible for care and maintenance of rented equipment. 
  • Insure field crews have correct work packages.  
  • Responsible for ordering and renting construction materials and equipment. 
  • Assist in creation and updating of project schedule.  
  • Review of purchase receipts. 
  • Interpretation, distribution, and management of weekly labor reports.  
  • Responsible for planning and staffing of field personnel (hire, fire, layoff).  
  • Monitor work performance and productivity of crafts to ensure project rules, procedures, safety requirements, etc. are maintained  
  • Attend project meetings.  
  • Provide daily interface with owner and owner's representatives (Engineer, CM, Inspector).  
  • Advise senior level superintendents and/or project management of potential problems, work interferences, schedule difficulties, etc.; assist in circumventing/resolving such problems as required.  
  • Maintain liaison with other departments, i.e., purchasing, engineering, etc. as required to support construction schedule.  
  • Assumes project manager role when job does not have one. 

Qualifications

  • Prior experience and expertise with Water/Wastewater Construction and R & R projects.  
  • CMAR project delivery experience.  
  • Willingness and ability to travel to different project sites. 
  • Ability to assume responsibility, and interfaces and communicates effectively with others. 
  • Knowledge of earthworking, concrete form systems, concrete placement, metals work, carpentry, and mechanical work.
